The VSU flute studio
The VSU flute studio is a close knit, supportive community, where students can grow and thrive as musicians and people. We have a weekly studio class, during which we play for each other, study flute-related fundamentals and concepts in depth, prepare orchestral excerpts, and have open-ended discussions about flute-related topics. If you are considering a music degree at VSU, read below to find out some of the standout features that set our wonderful department apart, and consider signing up for a free demo lesson with Dr. Sherer.

The education track culminates in a Master of Arts in Teaching with only one additional year of study. |
MASTER OF ARTS IN TEACHINGStudents receive a master’s degree with only one extra year of study after completing the Bachelor of Arts in music degree. This means our music education students graduate with more experience and are paid at the master’s level in many states across the nation. Typically equates to about a $5,000 increase in annual salary. |
AFFORDABLE EDUCATIONTuition is quite affordable to begin with, but there are many ways to make it more affordable, including: - In-state tuition for residents of neighboring states - Merit scholarships based on audition - Academic and Honors College scholarships - Hope scholarship |
